However, color correction is an absolute must for broadcast events, as well as for very large entertainment events. In these instances, we need to have control of the screens and video feeds as we shoot. We cannot take incoming feeds and broadcast them to the viewing audience if we cannot shade and color...

The Hybrid Approach to Video Storage

Posted by on 05/12/2015 in Client News, Media | Comments Off

TV Technology recently published the following article. You can view the original text here. Once upon a time, video producers stored their content on videotapes. These tapes were usually stored locally on the premises—usually on shelves or in a closet—except perhaps for boxes of 10-year-old programs that were kept in an off-site storage locker. Today, video producers can store everything they produce in on-site servers, or off-site in the cloud. Both physical and virtual video storage options have their place in the modern video production chain. The knack is knowing which storage option to use and when...

The following review of Zylight’s F8 Fresnel light is written by technical editor Matt Allard and published on News Shooter. The original article text can be viewed here. The Zylight F8 LED Fresnel features all of the hallmarks of a traditional HMI fresnel light but with the efficiency of LED technology. A fresnel lens is flat on one side and ridged on the other. They were first used in the 1800s as the lens that focuses the beam in lighthouse lamps. The basic idea behind a Fresnel lens is simple. Imagine taking a plastic magnifying glass lens and slicing it into a hundred concentric rings where each ring is slightly thinner than the next and focuses the light toward the center. By taking each ring and modifying it so that it’s...
